Over the last couple of years, SDN has become an overarching term to capture a number of areas within networking. Guru will cover the latest areas of focus within SDN from a venture capital perspective, what investors are looking for in SDN startups and recent SDN funding trends. Finally, he will cover areas that the next generation of entrepreneurs could potentially focus on and what the entrepreneurs should be looking for in an investor and they raise funding.
Bio:
Guru is VP of Product Management at a stealth mode SDN startup, an investor, and an advisor at Lightspeed Venture Partners. He has participated in several Lightspeed investments in Networking as well as Security infrastructure. His areas of interest include security, cloud, virtualization, data analytics and infrastructure management. In his operational career, he has been part of three product lines that have gone from inception to over a billion dollar run rate. Before his current role, Guru was Director of Product Management at Cisco Systems working on the Unified Computing System, Cisco’s entry into the x86 computing space. At Cisco, Guru helped define the product strategy and roadmaps, and was instrumental in increasing UCS traction in some of Cisco’s largest enterprise accounts. Before Cisco, Guru held operational roles at Nuova Systems (acquired by Cisco Systems), and Tropos Networks.
