Anil Surpur is the founding member and President of Yoga Bharati, a non-profit organization founded in 2002.

He has undergone BKS Iyyengar yoga training in Chennai in 1986 and has been practicing yoga since then. He has completed yoga teachers (YIC) training in 2003 from VYASA, a premier yoga university in Bengaluru and is Senior faculty for YIC course. Anil is registered Experienced Yoga Teacher (ERYT) and Director of yoga teacher training (RYT200) program with Yoga Alliance (YA) . He has been teaching yoga at public places and in corporate world in SFO bay area for last 10 years.

Anil is an Engineer by profession. He has completed B.E in Electronics and Communication (E&C) from Karnataka University and MBA from All India Management Association (AIMA).

He is currently holding Engineering Senior Management position at Fusion-io in San Jose, CA.

Abstract:

According to yogic text, mind is a conglomeration of thoughts; thoughts that are manifest and that are un-manifest as in wakeful state, dream state and deep sleep state. Mind normally works either as images (visual mind) or sound (verbal mind) or both. Yogic techniques can use Chantings and sounds/music to calm down the verbal mind and visual aids, visualization techniques to calm down the visual mind. He teaches yoga at public places and at work.

Music and Mantras have the natural capacity to soothe and relax the mind. In this session, you will explore the effect of using simple sounds to calm down the mind, slow down the thoughts and tap in your inner most creativity.
